From the IGI - Robert James Nisbet was born 17 April 1869 in Govan, Lanark, Scotland. His parents were Robert Nisbet & Janet Parker.
Known from his marriage to Alice Isabel Wright found in the parish records for Maldon All Saints.
Robert was a civil engineer. In addition to building waterways in Egypt, Robert was with an engineering firm that also built bridges, railways and railway stations, not only in Egypt, but in India and Takoradi, Ghana.
He died, aged 89 of broncho pneumonia due to delayed coal gas poisoning, following failure to light a gas fire fully. An inquest into his death was held on 1 October 1958 and his death was notified by the coroner for London, G. Thurston.
At the time of death Robert was living at 31 Bracken Gardens, Barnes.
