John died aged 80 on 13 June 1928, of syncope and mitral regurgitation. The death was registered by his son W J Ellingford of Springfield Cottage, who was present at the death. John Ellingford was buried in St Giles & All Saints churchyard Orsett . His wife Ann was buried with him. Monumental inscription ref 422.
